Kajals have always been an integral part among women. Whether it is going out for parties or getting ready for work, a kajal almost seems like a woman’s daily next best friend apart from diamond of course. We have always associated kajal with the colour black. Black kajals had been ruling the market monopoly for quite some time. Not anymore!
- The New Rage
Coloured kajals have become a rage among women especially the young ones. This popularity seems to have increased more with the new launch from Lakme. The phenomenal success of Lakme’s Eyeconic kajal has led them to introduce five different shades – white, brown, blue, grey and green. Of these, the white shade seems determined to break all codes of the black kajal tradition. However, not only Lakme but other brands also have come up with their own collection of coloured kajals.
- Colour Factor

While trying out these coloured kajals can be fun, however one must keep in mind other factors. The first and foremost thing while applying is that, you must make sure that they go well with the colour of your outfit. You cannot think of wearing a blue kajal over a green outfit. That is a strict no no.
- The Colour Test

In order to test a coloured kajal, I recently bought the new Lakme Eyeconic White. White is my favourite colour. The body design is similar to the Black one apart from the only difference that the body is now white and turquoise. It is the same retractable tube. Upon applying, I found the texture smooth and creamy. It glides away easily across my eye rim with just one stroke. The pigmentation is so good that it creates a rich white line with a touch of shimmer.
- Long Lasting Promise

Lakme Eyeconic White remained true to what it had promised. Once set, it is 100% smudge and waterproof. As far as longevity is concerned, worry not. After applying, I found that the kajal lasted on the upper lash for a good 6 – 7 hours. After that, it started to fade out a little. It stayed for a maximum of 3 to 4 hours as far as the lower water line of my eyes is concerned. Now this seems to be a treat for me as my previous kajal was hardly visible after 2 hours.
- One Disappointing Setback
The only thing that I found disappointing in this kajal is that it breaks off easily and must be used gently.
- Personal Verdict
The colour is beautiful and can be given a try once.
A small tip from me: border your eyelid with the white kajal first and then apply a shade of your choice. It will make your eyes draw attention. Also, use minimal makeup and restrict to nude lips. Remember, the trick is to highlight only your eyes.
